JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct care and assistance to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse. CNA supports residents with activities of daily living, promotes comfort and safety, and ensures a clean and supportive environment in accordance with the facility’s policies, state regulations, and standards of practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care assistance including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and toileting.
- Assist residents with mobility, positioning, transfers, and ambulation as directed.
- Measure and record vital signs, weights, food and fluid intake/output as instructed.
- Observe and report changes in residents’ physical or mental conditions promptly to the nurse.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Assist residents during mealtimes, ensuring proper hydration and nutrition.
- Respond to call lights promptly and ensure residents’ needs are met with respect and compassion.
- Uphold residents’ dignity, privacy, and rights at all times.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures according to facility and regulatory standards.
- Participate in shift reports, inservice education, and performance improvement initiatives.
- POC Charting: Accurately complete Point of Care (POC) charting for all assigned residents in a timely and compliant manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the nurse or supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
- Ability to assist residents safely and respond quickly in emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (preferred or as required by state).
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in a skilled nursing or longterm care facility (preferred).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with residents and staff.
